Paper poppers are simple yet fun toys that can provide hours of entertainment. They are easy to make and can be a great activity for kids or a fun addition to a desk at work. With just a few simple materials and a little bit of patience, you can create your own paper popper in no time.
Materials needed:
– A piece of paper
– Scissors
– Tape or glue
– Markers or colored pencils (optional)
Step 1: Start by taking your piece of paper and folding it in half lengthwise. Make sure to line up the edges and crease the fold firmly.
Step 2: Unfold the paper and fold it in half again, this time folding it widthwise. Again, line up the edges and crease the fold.
Step 3: Unfold the paper one more time so that it is no longer folded. You should see a creased line running vertically down the center of the paper.
Step 4: Take one of the bottom corners of the paper and fold it up towards the center crease, creating a triangle. Make sure to line up the edges and crease the fold.
Step 5: Repeat step 4 with the other bottom corner of the paper, folding it up towards the center crease to create a second triangle.
Step 6: Now, take the bottom edge of the paper and fold it up towards the top edge, again lining up the edges and making a firm crease. This will create a long, skinny rectangle shape.
Step 7: Open up the paper again, so that you are left with one long rectangle shape with two triangles sticking out from the sides.
Step 8: Take one of the triangles, and fold it inwards towards the center of the rectangle. The tip of the triangle should touch the middle crease, while the bottom edge of the triangle should align with the bottom edge of the rectangle. Repeat this with the other triangle on the opposite side.
Step 9: Fold the paper in half lengthwise again, with the triangles facing inwards. Make sure to align the edges and crease the fold firmly.
Step 10: Once you have the long, skinny rectangle shape again, take your scissors and cut two small slits on the bottom edge, about halfway up the length of the rectangle. These slits should be about 1/2 inch long.
Step 11: Open up the paper and fold it in half widthwise, this time bringing the top edge down towards the bottom edge. Make sure to align the edges and crease the fold.
Step 12: Now comes the fun part! Hold the paper popper by the slits you cut earlier and pull the ends apart quickly. The slits will cause the middle section of the popper to pop out, creating a loud “pop” sound.
Optional step: You can decorate your paper popper with markers or colored pencils by drawing designs or patterns on the outside of the paper. Get creative and make it your own!
Paper poppers are a great way to amuse yourself or entertain others. You can have contests with friends to see who can make the loudest pop, or even create your own popper battle game. Just make sure to use them responsibly and consider others around you when using them.
